Find the Perfect Exposure Time for Resin 3D Printing With UVTools!
Liked, subscribed, and will be supporting patreon too!!! I am a total beginner, and none of my friends have ventured into 3d printing. I also live far away from the city where majority of the in-person support groups are This video is s-tier No nonsense and absolutely giving me just everything that I need to start printing I have tried other "absolute beginner" videos but they talk about statistics and details so much that by the time they get to the actual guide, I'm already overloaded with too much information! This is exactly just what I need THANK YOU!!!
@@iceleyemcytejano1807 I'm glad to hear that you found this video so helpful! Thank you for the praise and sub. If you are able to join my Patreon that's greatly appreciated. In any case, best of luck to you!
Do you reccomend it as a beginner / first printer
@@DarcyFletchh yes this printer is very user friendly with lots of features that allow you to use different types of filament as you gain confidence.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay alright awesome, I think just I will pick one up
What hotend do you recommend for printing ABS?
@@richgoza1956 I'm not sure if there's a a fully assembled option available. However, if you search "Neptune 3 all metal hotend" you'll find a great tutorial. They walk you through what parts they used and how to install.
👍🏻
So do you recommend this as a beginner printer to get start the learning process
@@victortorres1585 Yes absolutely. It's one of the most user friendly and feature rich printers I've tested so far.
@@SlicePrintRoleplaywitch model specifically
@@victortorres1585 I can definitely recommend the Ender 3 V3 KE as that's what I've been testing. The Ender 3 V3 also looks to be a good. However, I've not personally tested that model yet. But one will arrive for testing in a few days.
Attention! A viewer made the claim that the High Performance power plan was a bad option because it runs your fans and CPU at high speeds consistently. After looking onto it for the past hour I've not fund much actual testing data to confirm this. I did found that on newer mid to high end gaming hardware your power plan won't make a huge difference. Balanced is fine in those situations. However, for older systems, especially laptops with underpowered hardware, High Performance can have a decent impact. So it's best to run your own tests on each system to see if program speeds improve with a High Performance vs a Balanced power plan. Thanks for reading. 😊
Is it a problem that there is no floor in the hollow circles on the left of the test? I've tried the test with these edits and with the transition layers and both have the same results
@@TheOddyNoddy it's typical and totally fine for the first few bottom layers of the circles to be filled in. I have another video explaining how to read this test. Check that out for more info.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay Thank you for the response, wasn't sure i missed something but if its normal then I'm all set
@@TheOddyNoddy you are very welcome.
True
Can’t figure out how to download things on the USB card help😢
@@KM19. Check this video out and see if it resolves your problem. ruclips.net/video/t_Hywsfxiks/видео.html
Lol I actually bought both within 6 months
@@narinpen oh we've got ourselves a big shot over here!... I'm speaking from a place of pure jealousy. Glad you've got some awesome hardware to play with. 😊
Guys, the best upgrade is not putting spool on the top of the printer, if you want i add my own lateral support an a filament guide wich only requires a 608 bearing and a m3 Sscrew of 15mm
@@bruno_rc a lot of people missed the fact that I said, "If you don't want to move the spool off the printer." I also said in another video that moving the spool off the printer is still the best option. It seems like some people are more concerned about telling me that I'm wrong rather than actually listening to what I said. I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong. However, I tested this setup before making this video. So, I stand by everything I said. If you'd like to run your own tests and prove me wrong then you are welcome to. Also, it's considered poor form to advertise something on someone else's content without permission. But if you're going to do it then at least provide the file name. That way people can actually find the model you're referring to without having to hunt for it.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay ok, no problem, I didn't want to criticize you, I just wanted to warn people that in my opinion best option is not having the spool on the top of the printer, and I can't add my model to hold the filament on the side because it is a remix that I made for myself using a model that does not allow publishing remixes of that model, but if I you want i can add the link to download the filament guide wich i use
Hi I recently got my first 3d printer (ender 3 v3 se) and subbed
@@WatemelonDawg oh that's awesome! I've been testing the Ender 3 V3 KE for a few weeks. It's basically the same as the SE with a few hardware upgrades. It's a pretty solid printer that's wicked fast! Did you see my video on recommended upgrades for the SE/KE? Nothing that's required but some helpful stuff that I felt improved my experience with it.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay yea I saw it but have had those specific problems tho
Mines currently broken and I’m using a dry box for filament
@@WatemelonDawg I'm sorry to hear that. Are you waiting on parts to fix it?
@@SlicePrintRoleplay yea reality is gonna send me a new extruder or nozzle module
I assume the micro fibre towels are thrown away after a single use?
@@ollyk22 for smaller printers I use 3 pieces of cloth. I do throw away the first 2 but the third is usually clean enough to keep for the next cleaning. I don't clean them but a lot of people ask about that. I suppose you could but the effort isn't worth it to me.
Thanks! New to printing myself so learning!
@@ollyk22 you are very welcome.
I haven’t tried it yet but I think it will work. I’m new to 3d printing and I haven’t cleaned it for like 20 prints lol. So I’m gonna try this
How long would you let it dry for?
Thanks much hope to use this with my new printer to make terrain at 32mm too
Man that's a tidy test
It's worth mentioning that in your video your file opens with the 'issues' tab open, which isn't the default. So if someone is struggling to find the islands list, click on the second symbol in the top left. Also, saving the UVtools processed file meant I could no longer open it up in Chitubox to add the supports
That's a super important call out. Thanks for that! This video is a few years old. At the time the default for UVTools was to open into the issues tab. However, that's changed with newer versions.
why wont my supports show any ideas why
Hmm it's extremely hard to say without seeing what you're seeing? Did you slice the model and then go to the "Preview" tab? If yes to both questions above then please join my Facebook group or Facebook page and provide screenshots so that I can see what you're seeing.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay oh yeah i clicked preview and saw them you eaned a sub
@@tntdude500-wy7od glad to hear it was an easy fix. And thanks for the support!
Here is my full tutorial explaining how to use the multi exposure test in UVTools. ruclips.net/video/lRbZw6GbGCI/видео.htmlsi=VJLfuTQw-8dVjYPe
Any clue on when that tree support video is coming out?
That will be coming soon actually. 😊
Thanks. So helpful
Glad to hear that!
terrible audio
If you look hard enough in the comments you'll see that about 1 in 50 or so comments mention bad audio. However, it's not the majority of comments which is what I'd expect if the audio was poor for everyone. So I honestly don't know whey a handful of people experience poor audio with this video but I'm sorry you're one of them. 🤷♂️
Hey is the video for calibration done, really need that one ❤
great vid. thanks. one issue is that when i go to export it wants to save as a goo file not a cbt file like your vid. any ideas please
Yep that's totally fine. The file extension/name changes as programs and printer firmware updates.
what do we do if we gouge the build plate? I accidently left a nice gouge in mine.
That's totally common. Can you feel any raised or sharp bits around where you dug into it? If not then don't worry. If so then take some 220 grit sandpaper to just that sharp area and knock it down.
Sorcery
Technically it's blood magic but yeah basically. 😜
I bought one V3 SE what mods I need to do to print ABS and ASA?
@@R.B_B sorry for the late response. You'd need to add an all metal hotend. I've not used the SE so you'll have to look for a tutorial on how to complete that upgrade.
Where did you get the Zelda flute file from
Thank you for letting me know that I didn't post a link to the model. I can't believe I did that. 🤦♂️ I put a link to it in the description, but I'll put it here as well. www.printables.com/model/65399-12-hole-playable-ocarina
Does anybody know if the user interface [on UV Tools] can be adjusted to show a proper aspect ratio (and if so, then how)?
Hmm I'm not sure about that. I'd ask in the UVTools Facebook group or in the Q&A section of the Github.
I am using creality slicer but now, I want to use cura too. My printer is CR-10 SE which is not in the cura's creality printers list, can you help me about this.
I do that but use plastic wrap from my kitchen
That works too. I just hate how much static electricity it builds up.
oh, so there is a thicker version. i am printing a bunch of these but it won't show the words. thank bro. I'm going to try again.
Yep I'd recommended using the thicker version on any Anycubic printer. And you are very welcome.
thnx
by adding the cube like this with drag and drop on the plane surface, it is not jumping exactly with the cubes bottom surface excatly on top of the plane surface? I think it dives into the plan surface ? is there a command to drop the cube, that the cube bottom surface is right on the flat plane (not diving into it)
How "was" the smell with this? I ask because I am new and I am switching from Elegoo Abs-like to this.
It's average or below but how bad/strong something is will be very subjective. But you shouldn't spending a lot of time in a room where you can smell the resin anyway. Breathing resin fumes can cause health issues. It's recommended to vent your printing area to remove the fumes as much as possible.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay I understand, mine is in a tent in the garage being extracted through a carbon filter out a in-line fan to the outside. I was just making sure of any possible other smells is all :). Thanks so much for the reply!
Looks like you’ve a little more to go.
Oh quite a bit. 😅
My new (fathers day gift) Anycubic Photon Mono X2 is on the way 🎉 This video was very helpful and full of good tips for people just dipping their toes into resin printing for the first time. Thank you.
That's awesome! I'm sure you'll make fantastic things with it. I'm glad you found the video helpful. 😊
Thank you my friend! Im on version 5.7.1 and the latest 2023 file version worked like a charm!! Really need to dial this sucker in. Hate that i bought a printer that needs so much work.
Glad to hear that the video helped you. Sorry that you're having to do so much extra work.
No we cant see they are attached- you sliding the model while pressing it against the supports. Seems like supports are already disconnected
I can't tell if you're serious or not. 😅
Same tweezers I use to play with my pet venomous spiders
How well trained are they? Will they attack on command? Because you could literally stop crime in any city overnight with one news headline... "Good Samaritan Stops Crooks with Trained Pocket Spiders!"
Could I just say, that this is great for smaller models, but Mesh mixer crashes on larger ones. Fusion 360 now has this ability.
Good to know. It's a feature available in their free version?
Is anyone have issues with the KE extruder layer shifting? I clean the drivers out and 2 prints later it shifts again. It's getting really frustrating. Perhaps a new extruder? Any suggestions?
I literally just started experiencing that issue this week. Tightening the belts helped but the issue is still there. I'll keep everyone posted.
@@SlicePrintRoleplay O gosh. Thank you. It's so annoying. I've got the sucker apart right now and am cleaning the drivers again. It has to be the dual driver I think. If anything I'll keep yous posted aswell.
it works thank you lol i was having trouble for a while.. should've searched it up sooner
